Could you use an Outdoor Shower?

We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, where we have access to beaches, pools and so much outdoor recreation. These are a few of the many blessings we have living here on the Gold Coast. Whether you have just come in from a surf at Burleigh or have been down at Currumbin creek with the kids, you can always bring some of the beach home with you. A great solution to this is installing an outdoor shower to have a rinse off. Outdoor showers are also great if you have a pool and a pooch! They can allow for a quick rinse off once you have taken a dip and you can shower your pooch outside.

Shower Outside - Could you use an Outdoor Shower?

There are 2 options when it comes to outdoor showers:

The first option is your true outdoor cold water shower – These can be a relatively easy install by a licensed plumber and only require access to a cold water line, and a recommendation of being connected to storm water drainage. These are simply somewhere to rinse off and can have rainwater run into the drain as well.

The second option is a hot water shower – This I would call a semi outdoor shower. The reason for this is that they can be placed outside you home so you’re not bringing in the sand and salt into the house. However council requires hot water showers to be connected to sewer drainage, have a roof and are somewhat enclosed. This being the case, rain water and shower water must be kept separate so that rainwater and sewer don’t feed into each other. This kind of shower is something that is more suited to a pool room or something to that effect. Council believes that because there is access to hot water, people will use the shower for hygienic purposes and therefore that’s why they want it connected to sewer.
